Join us for summer fun at The Disability Arts Festival!
For the first time ever, we are expanding this incredible festival to TWO full days of disability-centred programming to enjoy.
Starting at 2 PM on Saturday, August 8th at Tarragon Theatre, attendees can enjoy a series of film screenings provided by Voices with Impact, with stories from disabled creators from across the country. Our second event of the evening is a fan-favourite disabled drag and burlesque celebration: CRIPtonite! Starting at 8 PM, you can catch a series of boundary-defying performances, all situated in an accessible and relaxed environment. The film screenings and CRIPtonite are both ticketed in a Pay-What-You-Can format.
Sunday, August 9th marks the second day of The Disability Arts Festival, located at Wychwood Barns. From 11 AM - 5 PM, attendees can get FREE access to over 40 disabled artisan vendors, community activities, performances, games, crafts, food and drink vendors, and more. This is your accessible one-stop shop for all the summer fun you could wish for!

Access Measures:
All films screened will include open captions, live audio description, and ASL interpretation.
CRIPtonite will feature ASL interpretation, live audio description, and open captions
ASL interpreters will be available at all festival events to support community members as needed, and will accompany all of our Deaf vendors on Sunday.
An audio described tour of Sunday’s activities will be available, hosted by JJ Hunt.
Sighted guides will be available to assist community members at all events throughout the weekend.
11 AM - 12 PM on Sunday, August 9th at Wychwood Barns will be a dedicated ‘sensory hour’ with reduced traffic and noise. Sunshine Therapy Dogs will be in attendance during this hour for participants to interact with.
A personal care attendant from Whimble will be available throughout the event to any guests who require assistance with Activities of Daily Living, such as washroom breaks, eating/drinking, or gear changes.
A quiet space will be available on both days for folks to take a break from the Festival events. Sensory and fidget toys will be provided.
COVID-19 Policies:
The safety of our attendees, artists, volunteers, and staff is our number one priority.
The Disability Arts Festival is an indoor/outdoor event. All Festival attendees will be asked to wear a mask when indoors. Air purifiers from Safe Air Collective will be on throughout all indoor spaces, and free KN95 masks will be available at all entrances.

On Sunday, August 9 at Wychwood Barns, the Barn doors will be open to allow for natural air flow. As the Barns are a public space with folks living and working in the building, we will unfortunately not be able to enforce masking for those who are not there specifically for this event.
